How we know your surgeon is good

Anyone can put a JCI badge on a website. We've been inside the operating theatres. Every hospital in the Bello network was chosen the way we'd choose care for our own family — and if we wouldn't send our mother there, we don't send you there either.

We work with a network of accredited hospitals and surgeons in each city, not just one — so you get competitive pricing, real appointment availability, and a fit matched to your specific procedure.

Bello is paid by you, not by hospitals. We take no commission, referral fee, or kickback from any partner, which is why we can remove one. This page describes the standard we hold every partner to. Once your surgeon and hospital are matched, you can ask your coordinator for any document listed here.

How we vet this hospital

Accreditation is a credential. Vetting is our own work on top of it — we only refer patients to care we'd trust for our own family.

  • Accreditation confirmed with the accrediting body, expiry date checked
  • Hospital visited in person by a Bello coordinator, surgical team met face to face
  • Surgeon board certification, years in the specialty, and annual case volume verified in writing
  • Patient outcomes followed at 1 week, 6 weeks, and 6 months — partners reviewed quarterly
See what we checked in each city

The standard, in four moves

Accreditation, verified at the source
We confirm JCI or national accreditation directly with the accrediting body and check the expiry date — not a badge scraped off a website.
An in-person site visit
A Bello coordinator has walked the operating theatres, wards, and recovery floors of every partner hospital we refer to, and met the surgical team face to face.
Surgeon credentials and case volume
Board certification, years in the specialty, and annual case volume for your specific procedure — requested from the hospital in writing and checked before a surgeon joins the network.
Ongoing outcome review
We follow up with every patient at 1 week, 6 weeks, and 6 months, and review each partner quarterly. Partners have been removed for this reason.

Questions we hear

Credentials, follow-up, and what if

The three things patients ask before they trust a surgeon abroad — and the answers we can put in writing.

How do you verify a surgeon's credentials?
Before a surgeon joins the network we confirm their board certification and licence number against the national medical council register, not the hospital's say-so. We also take the years they've spent in the specialty and their annual case volume in writing from the hospital's medical director, and we hold a current malpractice insurance certificate that names the surgeon personally. Every item is re-checked at least once a year. Ask your coordinator and you'll be sent the document itself — licence number and all.
What's the follow-up timeline after my procedure?
A Bello coordinator follows your recovery at three checkpoints: 1 week, 6 weeks, and 6 months. The 1-week check happens while you're still in-country; the 6-week and 6-month checks continue after you're home, by phone or video. Every partner hospital is reviewed quarterly against the outcomes Bello patients actually report, so a pattern we don't like ends a partnership — not a single bad day.
What happens if my outcome differs from what we discussed?
We obtain a written revision policy from the hospital before you book — it states who pays for a revision, and within what window, for your specific procedure. If your outcome isn't what was planned, your coordinator raises it with the hospital on your behalf and you are not left to negotiate alone. Where a revision is clinically indicated within that policy window, it's carried out by the same surgeon at the same hospital, with the surgeon's fee already covered by the policy. If the issue falls outside the policy, your coordinator still advocates for you and helps you understand your options before any further cost is agreed.
Can I see the actual credentials before I commit?
Yes. The accreditation certificate, the surgeon's licence and board certification, the case-volume statement, and the malpractice insurance certificate are all held on file for your surgeon and your hospital. Request them from your coordinator at any point in the intake — there is no stage of the process where asking for the paperwork is the wrong move.

Your coordinator

One name, one number

Every Bello trip is run by one dedicated coordinator, from your first message to your flight home — reachable by WhatsApp, not a call center. They live in the city you're travelling to, they know which pharmacy is open on a Sunday, and they will tell you honestly when a surgeon isn't the right fit for what you want — because they've met that surgeon, walked the ward, and checked the credentials themselves.

Meet your coordinator
  1. I.

    One person, start to finish

The coordinator who answers your first message is the one who meets you at arrivals, sits in on your consult, and confirms your flight home. No handoffs, no ticket numbers.

  2. II.

    They've stood in the hospital

Your coordinator has personally visited the hospital and met the surgical team — this isn't a directory listing, it's a relationship we've built and keep checking.

  3. III.

    WhatsApp, not a call center

You have their number. Two in the morning on day five counts as a reasonable hour, and they've heard the question before.

  4. IV.

In the room when it matters

Hospital admission, pharmacy runs, the awkward conversation about whether you're allowed to swim yet — your coordinator handles it in the local language.

Booking & payment

When you pay, and what's refundable

When do I pay, and is any of it refundable?
After you accept your quote, a Booking & Coordination Fee is due to confirm your procedure date and begin planning — this is shown as a clear line item on your invoice. The remaining balance is due on a set schedule before travel. If your plans change: 60+ days before your procedure date: full refund of your Booking & Coordination Fee, minus a small processing charge. 30–59 days before: 50% of your Booking & Coordination Fee is refundable. Under 30 days before: the Booking & Coordination Fee is non-refundable, since hospital scheduling and coordination work is already underway on your behalf. We'll always walk you through this in your consultation before you commit to anything.

What if I need to reschedule my procedure date?
Rescheduling is not a cancellation, and we treat it that way. Tell your coordinator as soon as you know, and we’ll work with the hospital to move your surgery date and re-plan the trip around it. 21+ days before your procedure date: you can move your date once at no charge. Your Booking & Coordination Fee transfers in full to the new date — nothing refundable becomes non-refundable. Under 21 days: your fee still transfers to the new date, but a coordination charge may apply to cover re-booking the surgeon, residence, and nursing. Your coordinator quotes it in writing before anything is charged. If you later cancel instead of traveling, the refund schedule above applies — measured from your original procedure date, not the rescheduled one, so a reschedule never shortens your refund window unfairly. Third-party costs already committed on your behalf (flights on non-refundable fares, for example) follow the airline or vendor’s own rules. We always flag those before booking them.

This is the standard we hold every partner to before we refer a single patient. If a surgeon or hospital can't produce what's listed here, they don't join the network.
